Yellow wood comes from Central America. Yellow wood is used to create strong yellow wood stains from lemon yellow to brown yellow.
The yellow wood is a vegetable pigment that is soluble in denatured alcohol, it allows to create rich tints with beautiful colors.
Yellow wood can be used with several mordants such as alum salt or ferrous sulphate.
Combine with alum salt it becomes light yellow and green moss with ferrous sulphate as a mordant.
Preparation:
Soak 100 g of yellow wood in one liter of alcohol. Filter before applying your vegetable dye on the wood.
You can incorporate the dye directly into tung oil. Use colored oil for your first coat only.
