Solvent and VOC-Free Polyaspartic Coatings !
EVOPOLY+ is a solvent–free, two–component polyaspartic coating, perfectly suited for all concrete and wood finishing projects, both interior and exterior: worktops, countertops, bars, pool towers, concrete porches, concrete slabs. This product can also be used for residential, institutional, industrial and commercial concrete floors. EVOPOLY+ offers superior resistance to abrasion and chemical attack than conventional epoxies. It provides a smooth, glossy finish that will not turn yellow. EVOPOLY+ can be used as a base coat as well as a topcoat. Polyaspartic coatings have a very fast drying time, allowing the entire job to be done in one day. EVOPOLY+ can be applied at cold temperatures down to –10°C.
- Non–yellowing
- 100% solid resins
- Solvent and VOC–free
- Excellent abrasion resistance
- Interior and exterior applications
- Two component polyaspartic system
- Slow set time for easy application (35 minutes)
- Superior mechanical and chemical resistance properties
PREPARATION – WOOD :
- The wood must be clean and dry.
- Sand the surface to 120 grit. In the case of a river table, the epoxy must also be sanded.
- We recommend sealing the wood with a solvent or water–based varnish sealer to avoid bubbles created by gases released from the wood.
PREPARATION – BARE CONCRETE :
- The concrete must be clean, dry and free of grease, oil, paint, curing compounds or any other contaminants that may affect the adhesion of the product.
- If applying to a new concrete surface, a cure time of at least 28 days is required before applying EVOPOLY+.
- First, clean the surface with an alkaline concrete cleaner such as EVO™ CONCRETE CLEANER to remove all traces of grease and contaminants.
- Mechanical surface preparation : Resurfacing with a mechanical concrete grinder is the best preparation. However, for most residential projects you can prepare the surface with a sanding operation. Use 24–60 grit sandpaper (ideally with ceramic grit).
PREPARATION – PAINTED CONCRETE :
- All traces of paint must be removed from the surface. First, clean the surface with an alkaline concrete cleaner, such as EVO™ CONCRETE CLEANER, to remove all traces of grease and contaminants.
- Sand the surface with a 40–60 grit sandpaper (ideally with ceramic grit).
- If the product is being applied over an epoxy system that has aged for more than 24 hours, the surface must first be sanded with a 60 grit abrasive and properly cleaned with a vacuum. This preparation is necessary to ensure adequate adhesion.
- We recommend appropriate adhesion tests if there is any doubt about the surface preparation.
Important : If you are applying on a topcoat, you must also sand to create an anchor profile. A compatibility test should be carried out beforehand.
MIXING :
- Before final mixing, it is recommended that parts A and B of the product be thoroughly mixed individually at low speed (300–450 rpm).
- Pay particular attention to the coloured versions of the product as the pigments may have separated from the rest of the formulation during storage. Mixing is completed when a uniform colour is achieved.
- In a clean container, mix part A and part B with a low–speed drill (300–450 rpm). Be sure to use clean equipment to avoid contaminating the product.
- Mix slowly and thoroughly for 3 to 5 minutes so as to avoid air bubbles in the product and scrape down the sides to the bottom of the mixing container.
- For small projects, be sure to mix only the amount of product needed.
- Once the product is mixed, you have 35 minutes of working time.
APPLICATION :
- Before applying EVOPOLY+ make sure that the air and floor temperature is between –10 and 30°C and that the humidity level does not exceed 85%.
- Pour the product directly onto the floor in parallel lines.
- Then spread the product with a squeegee and roll with an epoxy roller in both directions, parallel and perpendicular, to even out the surface.
- You can only spread the product with a high quality 13 mm microfiber epoxy roller. – EVOPOLY+ can be applied both as a base coat (directly on the concrete) and as a topcoat.
- We recommend applying a base coat of approximately 6 to 8 mils (thousandths of an inch) thick, followed by a topcoat of approximately 6 mils on solid colour.
- If your surface contains flakes, complete the finish with two 4 mils coats to ensure that the flakes are fully coated.
