LIGNA HYBRI-DECK exterior wood penetrating protector is a technical innovation combining vegetable oil with water. It offers good water repellency, it releases very little VOC, it protects against stains and prevents wood from burning due to UV rays. HYBRI-DECK oil does not peel or flake, so there is no need to scour or scrape to refresh the finish.
HYBRI-DECK is made from naturally modified oils and resins. This modification mixes the oil with the water and eliminates the use of petroleum solvents. The water allows to penetrate the oil, it opens the grain of the wood and facilitates its absorption. When water evaporates during drying, the molecular bonding of the resins in the wood structure acts as a microporous saturator.
Since the protection is non-film-forming (does not sit on the surface), the wood can breathe, contract and shrink depending on the temperature. This will not crack or peel the protection. The microporosity of the finish blocks water droplets while allowing moisture to escape without diminishing the adhesion of the finish. Formulated in renowned laboratories with more than 25 years of experience, LIGNA products offer an “avant-garde” technology that is assembled in Quebec.
If you wish to add additional UV protection, apply LIGNA UVIO beforehand.

PREPARATION:
The surface must be clean, free of dust and free of any wax or varnish residue.
The temperature must be above 15 ° C.
If the surface is grayed out, clean with LIGNA DEGRIO.
The surface should be sanded in the direction of the wood grain with 80 grit paper before application. Dust the surface with a vacuum cleaner or with compressed air.
Mix the product well with a stick before application.
APPLICATION:
Apply with a BRUSH FOR DYEING.
Wait 20 to 30 minutes before applying the second coat. Do not exceed 30 minutes between coats. If the time is exceeded, a light sanding with 120 or 150 grit sandpaper will be needed.
Do not apply directly under the sun’s rays. The moisture content of the wood should not exceed 20%.
Caution: Avoid accumulation and never allow the product to dry on the surface.
Tip: To refresh a finish without darkening it too much or for application on unplaned (raw) wood, it is possible to add 50% of the volume of HYBRI-DECK Natural products to lighten the color. Note that Naturel colour contains an anti-UV agent that gives a slight tint to the finish.
- After 12 hours: moderate and careful use;
- After 3 Days: normal use.
NUMBER OF COATS:
2 coats are needed. The second coat will increase the colour by 20%.
You can use the natural version to preserve the original colour of the wood. However, you will need to refresh the surface more often to prevent it from turning grey.
COVERAGE:
80 to 200 p2/Litre depending on the species of wood to be covered.
TOOL CLEANING:
Use water.
MAINTENANCE:
Clean periodically with an outdoor wood cleaner as EXTROLIA. When your surface discolour and becomes dull, apply a refreshment coat of HYBRI-DECK.
REFRESHMENT COAT:
For the refreshment of the HYBRI-DECK in colored version: add a thin coat of oil on the horizontal surfaces after 1 to 3 years and on the vertical surfaces after 3 to 6 years.
For the refreshment of the HYBRI-DECK Natural: add a thin coat of oil on the horizontal surfaces after 1 year and on the vertical surfaces after 1 to 3 years.

WARNING:
The Natural colour contains a U.V. protector that will slow down the graying process. However, it will not perform as well as the pigmented versions. The Natural color will require more maintenance and should not be used on surfaces that are highly exposed to the sun.
